Li Kui was a representative figure of the Legalist school during the Warring States period. Publicly available information on his life, including his dates of birth and death, is limited, and modern readers mainly rely on documents such as the "Treatise on Literature" in the Book of Han to trace his writings. The library holds one work attributed to him, the Shennong Shu, commonly classified under culture. Grounded in legends of the ancient Shennong, the Shennong Shu deals largely with farming, seasonal phenomena, and political and educational order, reflecting the early Chinese tendency to integrate agricultural production with statecraft. Its language is plain and strongly colored by classical documentary style, and to some extent it reflects the interweaving of ancient agronomic knowledge and political thought, offering reference value for later studies of agricultural treatises and Legalist thought.
