李复言

Li Fuyan was a Tang dynasty writer of fiction. Little is known about his life today: his birth and death years, native place, and other details are limited in publicly available sources and difficult to verify. He continued Niu Sengru's Xuanguai lu, producing the sequel Xu xuanguai lu. The editions of Xu xuanguai lu, Xuanguai lu and Xu xuanguai lu, the unannotated version of Xu xuanguai lu, and the modern Chinese translation collected here all belong to this series. His works mostly record strange and supernatural events, with intricate plots and concise prose, making them representative zhiguai tales among Tang romances and biji fiction. Also included is the two-volume Tang and Five Dynasties Biji Fiction Grand View. In short, Li Fuyan is known for his sequel and holds a place in the transmission of Tang supernatural fiction.
