李伯重

Li Bozhong is an important scholar long active in the fields of Chinese economic history and historiography. Public information about him is limited, and details of his life are not widely known. Six of his works are carried here, spanning academic monographs and essays, and roughly fall into three groups. One focuses on the regional economy of Jiangnan, represented by A Multidimensional View of Jiangnan's Economic History, 1250–1850 (Expanded Edition), which examines long-term economic change. Another extends to broader themes in Chinese history, such as Beyond Jiangnan: Essays on Chinese History and Firearms and Account Books. A third discusses scholarly method and the character of historians, including Entering Historiography, New Horizons, New History: Lectures, Prefaces and Book Reviews, and Good Historians and Good Teachers: Ten Famous Historians in the Eyes of Their Students (Revised Edition). His writing is known for solid use of historical sources and a broad vision, rigorous yet readable, and his works are often grouped under finance, history, and documentary literature, influencing both specialist readers and general history enthusiasts.
