About the author

Li Weidong: publicly available information is limited. At present, only his Chinese name and three works held in the collection are known; his nationality, dates of birth and death, and educational background remain unclear. Judging from the subjects of his works, his writing spans several fields: a specialized study of Jian ware "Tenmoku" bowls with "yōhen" glaze, a scientific study of ceramics recovered from Chinese underwater archaeology, and a book on Chinese Fritillaria. These works are categorized respectively as history, popular science, and medicine, indicating a shared interest in traditional craft, archaeological science, and medicinal plants. His writing tends to take specific objects or species as starting points and to develop arguments grounded in empirical materials. Because verifiable information is scarce, his life history and academic identity cannot be confirmed; readers may chiefly rely on the above works to understand his areas of interest and writing characteristics.
