About the author

Li Zhongzi was a physician of the Ming dynasty. Publicly available sources offer limited detail about his life, and his exact birth and death years and native place still require further verification. Judging from the nine works collected here, his writings cover various branches of traditional Chinese medicine, including basic theory, diagnostics, materia medica, and formulary literature. Among them, Neijing Zhiyao selects the essentials of the Huangdi Neijing for easy study and clinical reference; Zhenjia Zhengyan is devoted to pulse diagnosis; and Bencao Zhengyao and Leigong Paozhi Yaoxing Jie focus on organizing the properties and processing of medicinal substances. His style is clear, concise, and practical, with an emphasis on clinical applicability, which accounts for his relatively wide transmission among later physicians and his frequent use as introductory and study material.
