Zhu Gang

Zhu Gang, born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, in 1969, is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Fudan University, where he has also served as department chair. He is vice president of the Chinese Society for Song Dynasty Literature and of the Chinese Su Shi Research Association. His research focuses on Song dynasty literature and Su Shi studies. His representative works include Ten Lectures on Su Shi, Reading Su Shi, Chinese Literary Tradition, Studies on Su Shi and Su Zhe, and Selected Critical Readings of Su Shi's Poetry and Prose, as well as Literature as the Vehicle of the Way: The Discourse on the Way and Literature of the Four Great Masters of the Tang and Song and Collected Essays on Tang-Song Poetry and Buddhist Literature and Art. His writing is distinguished by documentary scholarship and close reading, combining literary appreciation with theoretical interpretation. His Twentieth-Century Western Literary Theory is listed as a National Planning Textbook for General Higher Education under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, and he has also contributed to popular readings on Dongpo's works.
