普里什文

Public information about Prishvin's life is limited: his nationality and dates of birth and death remain unverified, and the library currently holds nine of his works. Judging from books such as A Night with Sunshine: Notes from the Extreme North of Russia and Norway, The Calendar of Nature: A "Harmony between Man and Nature" in the Forests of Northern Russia, Forest Drops, and The Place Where Birds Are Not Alarmed, his writing draws largely on the forests, birds, and seasonal landscapes of northern and far-northern Russia. In essays and notes he records observations of nature in a delicate, poetic style, often weaving human interaction with nature into concrete scenes. Attentive to subtle changes in wilderness and everyday nature, his works combine the documentary quality of natural history with literary craft, giving them a representative place in foreign literature and prose, and offering readers a vivid sample of Russian nature writing.
