Fang Jing is an author about whom little public information is available. All that is known is that four of her works are included in the collection, all of them historical readings centred on explorations and archaeology in the Western Regions. Her representative works include three titles in the Western Regions Travel Series published by Zhixin—From Kashmir to Kashgar, The Khotan Oasis, and Surveying the Niya Ruins—as well as the fifteen-volume Stein: Western Regions Travel Series. These works draw largely on Stein's records of his travels in the Western Regions, covering the geography, sites and exploration accounts along the route from Xinjiang to Kashmir.
