文公直

Wen Gongzhi was a writer of wuxia fiction in the Republican era. Public information about him is limited, and his nationality and dates of birth and death remain unverified. Judging from the fourteen works held in the collection, he chiefly wrote long-form wuxia. His representative work is the "Bixue Danxin" (Loyal Blood and a True Heart) trilogy (3 volumes), together with Bixue Danxin Daxia Zhuan, Bixue Danxin Yu Gong Zhuan, and Bixue Danxin Pingfan Zhuan, which form a series; other titles include Guanshan Youxia Zhuan (Part One), Chidan Zhongxin, Jianghu Yixia Zhuan, and Nüjie Qin Hou Zhuan. His themes center on chivalry, loyalty, and feuds of the jianghu, and the recurring words "loyal blood" and "true heart" in his titles suggest a style of upright heroism and intricately plotted traditional chivalric fiction. Classified as wuxia and fine fiction, his works had some influence among readers of old-school wuxia and serve as reference material for understanding the landscape of Republican-era wuxia.
