About the author

Public information about Cheng Guo is limited. Only three works are currently attributed to this name in the database, spanning foreign literature, mystery and detective fiction, and medicine. Two are translations of works by the American writer Raymond Chandler: a three-volume selection of Chandler's novels titled The Long Goodbye Series, and Farewell, My Lovely, both falling under foreign literature and mystery fiction. The third, A Humble Step in the Medical Field: Selected Medical Discourses and Case Records by Cheng Zhaozhi with Commentary, belongs to medicine and consists of selected medical discourses and case records together with commentary. Judging from the available information, Cheng Guo's work combines translation with the compilation of medical literature: the former focuses on introducing detective fiction, the latter on assembling and commenting on clinical writings in traditional Chinese medicine. Since dates of birth and death, nationality, and professional background cannot be confirmed, a full assessment of this author's style and influence is not yet possible.
