About the author

Xu Yushan is an author about whom limited public information is available; her work centers on philanthropy, community governance, and social culture. Four of her books are included in the collection: An Atlas of American Philanthropy: From Tradition to Modernity, A History of Philanthropy at China Merchants, Service-Oriented Governance: Community Service Centers' Participation in Community Governance, and The Practitioners' Voices: Interviews with Shenzhen Philanthropists. These works span historical accounts, observations of overseas practice, analysis of community governance, and interviews with people in the field. Drawing on real cases and primary sources, they combine documentary value with readability and offer useful reference for readers interested in China's philanthropic development and grassroots governance.
