Zhang Yinan is an author in the field of collating and annotating classical Chinese medical texts. Publicly available information about his life is very limited, and his dates of birth and death, native place, and scholarly lineage are difficult to establish with certainty. The library currently holds one work by him, Collected Annotations on the Treatise on Cold Damage (Shanghan Lun Jizhu), classified under medicine. The book belongs to the tradition of collected commentaries on Zhang Zhongjing's Treatise on Cold Damage, bringing together earlier explanations and adding the author's own views to elucidate the meaning of the passages and the relationship between formulas and patterns. It serves as a reference for studying the Treatise. Zhang's writing focuses on organizing and interpreting canonical texts, with a style centered on annotation and textual analysis, intended for clinical and teaching use. Given the scarcity of historical sources, his scholarly standing and influence should not be overestimated; readers may consult the original work alongside the achievements of commentators across the dynasties.
