Zhang Lianhong, about whom limited public information is available, appears from the works in this collection to be a Chinese scholar-editor long involved in compiling and studying historical sources on the Nanjing Massacre. His representative work includes The Weitelin Diary (Weitelin Riji) and several volumes of the Historical Materials on the Nanjing Massacre series, covering survivor oral histories, survivors' diaries and recollections, and British diplomatic and consular documents, with eleven titles in total in this collection. These works are mainly historical reading and documentary literature, centered on primary documents, oral testimonies, and diaries and memoirs, with an emphasis on preserving and presenting historical sources. The style is rigorous and evidence-based, offering readers relatively systematic material for understanding survivor testimony and third-party records of the Nanjing Massacre.
