Zhang Sheng

Zhang Sheng, whose original name is Zhang Yongsheng, was born in Jiaozuo, Henan, in 1969. He is a writer and scholar with a doctorate from Nanjing University. He has taught at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and is now a professor at the School of Humanities, Tongji University, where he serves as chair of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and as a doctoral supervisor. His research focuses on French theory, cultural studies, and modern and contemporary Chinese literature; he also writes and translates, and is the author of works such as Ten Years of Lamplight, White Clouds a Thousand Miles, and Toward Bataille, and the translator of America and The Psychic Life of Power. His works fall under such categories as documentary literature, culture, history, and foreign literature. The library holds fourteen of his titles, many related to the compilation of historical materials on the Nanjing Massacre, including Tokyo Trial documentary evidence and Soviet, Italian, and German documents, survivor oral histories, materials on Japanese militarist education, and Yale documents, with an emphasis on documentary compilation and the presentation of primary sources.
