About the author

Zhang Minjie is an author about whom limited public information is available. Four of his works are currently held in the library, spanning popular science, Eastern philosophy, literary appreciation and social science. Judging from the two-volume Reading the Classics of Mountains and Seas and the three-volume The Three Musketeers of Chinese Studies, he is skilled at retelling Chinese classics and cultural traditions in an accessible way, combining literary appreciation with the popularization of knowledge. Illustrated Chinese Studies follows the same approach, using text and images to present the basics of traditional Chinese learning. At the same time, Social Policy: Transitional China and Social Policy shows that his interests extend beyond traditional culture to contemporary Chinese social policy, reflecting a clear social-science orientation. Overall, his writing moves between making classics accessible and discussing social science, addressing general readers and balancing readability with informative content.
