About the author

Zhang Shoutao is a Chinese author with a fairly broad range of subjects, about whom limited public information is available. Four of his works are included here, spanning literary appreciation, social science, biography, and prose. Among them, Sixteen Lectures on Lu Xun's Classic Works and Lu Xun's Circle of Friends: Lu Xun and Modern Brilliant Figures approach Lu Xun studies from different angles: the former focuses on close reading and explanation of classic texts, while the latter unfolds around Lu Xun's social circle and shows the relationship between modern writers and their era. Industrial Pioneer: Fan Xudong turns to biography, recounting the experience of a modern industrialist, while My Silence Is Deafening belongs to prose and personal writing with a personal tone. Overall, his writing moves between literary interpretation, historical figures, and personal reflection, combining informativeness with readability.
