Public information about Zhang Xueqin is currently limited. It is known only that one work by this author is held in the collection: the prose miscellany Stolen Time. Judging from the title and the category it belongs to, the book is likely a collection of personal essays that take fragments of everyday life as their starting point and reflect on the passage of time, carrying a strong lyrical quality and a sense of daily life. Because no clear records of the author's biography, nationality, or dates of birth and death are available, it is difficult to form a comprehensive judgment of the author's creative development and overall style. On the basis of the available material, Stolen Time is the main window through which to understand Zhang Xueqin's writing, whose text tends to capture emotion and reflection within ordinary matters and is suited to readers who enjoy prose miscellanies and are interested in the details of life and the theme of time.
