About the author

Liao Mei is a Chinese book author about whom limited public information is available. Her work centers on Special Olympics and documentary writing about people with disabilities. Three of her titles are included here: This Time, Please Listen to Me (Special Olympics Volume), This Time, Please Listen to Me (Employment Volume), and the nine-volume Oral History of the Special Olympics. Through oral history and documentary literature, these books record the personal experiences and voices of Special Olympics athletes, participants, and those around them, focusing on their real circumstances in sports, employment, and daily life. Her writing emphasizes first-hand accounts and the arrangement of historical material, in plain language that preserves interviewees' own words and individual feelings, drawing ordinary readers' attention to a group that is often overlooked. Under the categories of history and documentary literature, her works offer oral-history material of reference value for the Special Olympics movement.
