About the author

Meng Zhuo is an author about whom little public information is available; his writing can only be understood through his works. Five of his titles are held in the collection, including "This Is How Chinese Characters Came About: Astronomy and Geography in and beyond Characters," "This Is How Chinese Characters Came About: Entering the World of Chinese Characters," "How Beautiful the Classics Are: Secrets of the Shuowen Jiezi," and "The Art of War Has Wisdom," as well as a ten-volume selection of Wenjin Award–winning books. These works generally begin with Chinese characters and classical texts, explaining character forms and meanings in an accessible way and interpreting classics such as the Shuowen Jiezi and The Art of War. The writing is plain and natural, with an emphasis on interest, weaving Eastern philosophy and traditional cultural knowledge into everyday reading; the books are often categorized under parenting and Chinese studies primers, suitable for parent-child reading and beginning readers.
