孟宪实

Meng Xianshi is an author whose writing focuses mainly on medieval Chinese history, especially the Tang dynasty. Public information about him is limited, and no systematic account of his life has been disclosed. Eleven of his works are included in the collection, spanning historical reading, documentary writing, cultural essays, and miscellany. His writing often centers on Tang political developments and the fates of historical figures, as in Meng Xianshi on Tang History: From the Xuanwu Gate Incident to the Zhenguan Era and The Truth about Emperor Gaozong of Tang, where he seeks to present historical threads through accessible narration. The Silk Road in the Han and Tang Dynasties: Envoys, Silk and Horses, and Institutions extends his scope to foreign exchange and institutional history. Seeking Dreams and Return: The Story of the Dunhuang Treasures, a documentary account of how Dunhuang documents were scattered and recovered, shows his concern for cultural heritage. Overall, his works combine a scholarly grounding with readability and suit general readers interested in Han and Tang history.
