Sun Yu

Sun Yu, whose original name is Sun Yi, was born in Dalian, Liaoning, in 1957. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Liberal Arts, Renmin University of China, and formerly served as its dean. He has long engaged in Lu Xun studies as well as modern and contemporary Chinese literature and museum studies. His works include Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren, Lu Xun and Hu Shi, and Reflections on Lu Xun, and he is editor-in-chief of the journal Lu Xun Studies Monthly. Four of his books are included here: Casual Talk on Wang Zengqi, People of Six Dynasties: A Separate Biography of Zhang Zhongxing, Thinking Elsewhere, and A Reader of Modern Literary Classics (Boya Guided Reading Series), most of which fall under biography and classic works. His writing is distinguished by solid historical materials and close textual reading, often linking figures' lives with their historical contexts in a plain yet reflective style, contributing to both the study and popularization of modern and contemporary literature.
