孙家孟

Sun Jiameng, about whom limited public information is available, is chiefly known as a translator who has introduced foreign literature to Chinese readers. The library holds six of his works, including translations of Don Quixote (illustrated collector's edition) and Don Quixote, as well as Mario Vargas Llosa's Conversation in the Cathedral, The Green House, Captain Pantoja and the Special Service, and The Dream of the Celt. His subjects are classics and world-famous works of foreign literature, ranging from the summit of the Spanish classical novel to key texts of contemporary Latin American fiction. Spanning different eras and styles, his translations have had to handle both Cervantes' satirical narrative and Vargas Llosa's structural experiments. These versions offer Chinese readers a reliable path into Spanish-language literature and have had a lasting influence on the publication and reading of foreign literature.
