About the author

Lü Peng (born 1956), also known in English as Lü Peng, is a Chinese art historian, critic, and curator who has long worked in art-historical research and teaching. His writing spans art-historical method, contemporary art, and broader historical narrative: he discusses how to study and research art history, traces the historical development of Chinese contemporary art and its relationship with marketization, and extends his scope to the contours of imperial China from the Qin and Han periods to the Hundred Days' Reform. His works are often treated as references in categories such as theory and history, combining methodological guidance with narrative overviews, and are suited to students of art history and readers interested in modern and contemporary Chinese art.
