名教中人

Mingjiaozhongren: the real name, dates of birth and death, and nationality of this author are unrecorded, and publicly available information is limited. Judging from the seven works in the library, the author's output centers on the compilation and editing of Ming and Qing vernacular fiction. The representative work is the three-volume Haochu Zhuan (The Fortunate Union), alongside Hua'an Qiwen, Xiayi Fengyue Zhuan, and a four-volume boxed set of classical tales of urban romance. The works draw mainly on scholar-beauty romance, urban love stories, and chivalric legends, and fall under categories such as classical literature, social fiction, and miscellaneous prose. The pen name "Mingjiaozhongren" ("one among the adherents of the Confucian moral code") itself carries Confucian ethical overtones, echoing the themes of moral instruction and praise of chastity and righteousness in Haochu Zhuan. Written in accessible language with intricate plots, these works offer useful reference for understanding the themes and publishing style of Ming and Qing popular fiction.
