About the author

Ye Lingfeng (1905–1975), originally named Yunpu, was a Chinese writer and bibliophile from Nanjing, Jiangsu. He joined the Creation Society in 1925 and began his literary career. His work spans both fiction and prose: his early stories often center on women's fates and emotional entanglements, written with delicate detail and a romantic, wistful tone, while his later essays are elegant and lucid, combining knowledge with charm. After settling in Hong Kong in 1938, he long edited the literary supplement of Sing Tao Daily and devoted himself to the study of Hong Kong's history and geography, authoring Hong Kong Fangwu Zhi. Nine of his works, including short stories, strange tales, essays, and short prose pieces, are collected on this site, covering social fiction, otherworldly imagination, and miscellaneous prose, and offering a fairly comprehensive view of his varied writing.
