About the author

Shi Youbo currently has only limited publicly available information; his biography, nationality, and dates of birth and death are not clearly recorded. Judging from the three works held in the collection, he has long devoted himself to teaching and interpreting classical Chinese philosophy and Confucian classics, with his subjects centered on Eastern philosophy and philosophical readings. His works are presented in the form of lecture records, respectively exploring the Great Learning, the Doctrine of the Mean, and Zhou Dunyi's Tongshu and Taiji Tushuo, linking the meaning of the classical texts with themes such as "sage learning," "the mind-method of Confucius's school," and "the middle way," and thereby discussing the origins of Neo-Confucianism. His style is that of classroom exposition, marked by careful analysis, conceptual clarification, and attention to the threads of the classics, making it suitable for readers who wish to approach Confucian thought through lecture records.
