About the author

Liu Jiqing, whose pen name is Shiqing, is a native of Hebei and a professor, writer and poet. He graduated in 1988 from the School of Chinese Materia Medica at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and currently serves as chief pharmacist of Chinese materia medica at Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is the founder of the approach that combines traditional Chinese medicine with poetry. He compiled the "Shiqing Poetic Translations of Classical Chinese Medical Texts" series, known as Poetic Classics, including Poetic Classics: Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Diseases, Poetic Classics: Huangdi Neijing - Suwen, and Poetic Classics: Huangdi Neijing - Lingshu. In these works he translates classical Chinese medical texts into seven-character verse, blending medical principles with poetic rhythm so that the ancient passages are easier to recite and remember. He has also published a poetry collection, Fragrance Gathered by the Roadside. His works generally fall under medicine, and his writing combines professional expertise with literary quality, offering a distinctive path for bringing classical Chinese medical texts to a wider public. Beyond the above, public information on his life is limited.
