刘海宁

Public information about Liu Haining is limited. Judging from the ten works held in the library, his editorial and translation work follows two main lines: historical documentation and foreign literature. On the historical side, he took part in editing several editions of The Diaries of John Rabe, including the revised edition and a young readers' edition, as well as volume thirteen of the Historical Materials on the Nanjing Massacre: The Diaries of John Rabe, showing a sustained concern with organizing and making accessible primary sources related to the Nanjing Massacre. On the literary side, he has been involved with a Romanian trilogy, a collection of novels by Elfriede Jelinek, and works such as The Fox Was Ever the Hunter and Wonderful, Wonderful Times, covering Eastern European and contemporary German-language literature. These projects are largely compilations of historical materials and translations, spanning history, documentary writing, and classic works, and offer Chinese readers accessible texts for understanding the relevant history and foreign literature.
