About the author

Liu Cunfa is a writer whose works span architectural design and classical Chinese poetry. Public information about him is limited, and his biography, identity, and professional background remain unclear. Judging solely from the four works held in the collection, however, his writing crosses two seemingly distant fields. On the one hand, he focuses on architecture itself, with Red Brick Architecture Records and Interpreting Architecture, approaching the subject through both concrete examples and conceptual discussion and showing a sustained interest in architectural form, materials, and design practice. On the other hand, he writes in the traditional ci form about plants and the four seasons, with Qingfeng Zhi Suxin: Three Hundred Ci on Plum, Orchid, Bamboo and Chrysanthemum and Qingguang Wanli Yun: Three Hundred Ci on Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, expressing feeling through the imagery of these plants and the changing seasons. Together, the two kinds of writing—one practical, one lyrical—reveal an author who combines rational observation with a classical aesthetic sensibility.
