About the author

Liu Ziyi was a prominent poet and reportage writer in Chongqing and the father of the writer Liu Huaiyu; he later moved to the United States. Public information about his birth and death dates and his early life is limited. For more than twenty years before his death, he persisted in collecting and writing historical material about Chen Yixi and the Xinning Railway, laying a solid foundation for literary works on this subject. After his death, his daughter Liu Huaiyu carried on his work and completed the novel Yuan Dao Cang Cang, co-authored by father and daughter and published by Chongqing Publishing House in 2021. The book appears in two volumes and is held in the library as a two-volume set and as separate upper and lower volumes; it is classified as a social novel and unfolds its narrative around historical figures and railway construction, reflecting the combination of the author's long-term historical research and literary expression.
