About the author

Wu Haiqin (1939–2023) was a Chinese neurology expert. A graduate of Xi'an Medical College, he served as chief physician of the neurology department at Xianyang 215 Hospital. Together with Zhao Buchang and others, he proposed the medical theory of "treating the brain and heart together" and took part in developing Buchang Naoxintong; he was one of the founders of Buchang Pharmaceutical. Four of his works are held in the collection, focused on health and medicine: long-term management of diabetes, traditional Chinese medicine approaches to preventing and treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, women's breast, ovarian and uterine health, and the development of the brain-heart theory. Written for general readers and medical practitioners alike, these works combine clinical experience with TCM ideas in plain, practical language, reflecting his sustained thinking on neurology and integrated Chinese-Western prevention of cardiovascular disease. He died on January 5, 2023.
