Ren Xiaohong is a Chinese translator of foreign literature and military history books. Public information about her is limited, and no reliable account of her life is available. The seven works recorded in the catalog show that her translations range from Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea and his short stories, and Stevenson's Treasure Island, to the documentary accounts of the European theater in the final years of World War II, The Guns at Last Light and related volumes of the Liberation Trilogy, as well as A Man's Journey. This selection spans both classic literature and war reportage, indicating that she can handle the spare, forceful narrative and dialogue of fiction as well as historically dense writing with large-scale scenes. Her translations aim above all at accuracy while remaining readable in Chinese, and are suited to general readers interested in foreign literary classics and the history of World War II.
