About the author

Frank Walton is an author of popular English fiction about whom very little biographical information is publicly available; neither his nationality nor his dates of birth and death can be confirmed, and three of his works are held in this collection. All three belong to the "Flying Machine Boys" series: The Flying Machine Boys in the Wilds; Or, The Mystery of the Andes, The Flying Machine Boys on Secret Service; Or, The Capture in the Air, and The Flying Machine Boys on Duty; Or, The Clue Above the Clouds. Judging from the titles and the series structure, he wrote juvenile adventure stories centered on early flying machines, blending detective suspense with exotic exploration and emphasizing aerial pursuit, secret missions, and the unraveling of mysteries. Because public information is limited, his personal life and full body of work cannot be described in detail, yet the series reflects the popularity of early twentieth-century adventure fiction for young readers that used aviation technology as a selling point.
