About the author

Helen Randolph is a shared pen name used by American children's literature authors Virginia Fairfax and Helen Allan Ripley. Both served as Girl Scout leaders and drew on their experiences of storytelling around the campfire to co-create the "Mexican Girl Mystery Stories" trilogy, published in 1936, which includes The Secret of Casa Grande, Crossed Trails in Mexico, and The Mystery of Carlitos. Three of their works are held in this collection. Set in Mexico, the stories center on young girls' mysteries and adventures, featuring tight plotting and suspense while blending regional atmosphere with themes of growing up, making them suitable for young readers. Public information about the two authors' lives is limited and awaits further verification.
