About the author

Teodoro Pascal (Pascal, Teodoro, 1857–1937) was an Italian scholar active from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century who focused on poultry studies. Public information about his life is quite limited, and his educational background, institutional affiliations, and specific career remain to be verified. The library currently holds three of his works, all written in Italian and centered on poultry keeping and breed improvement: a book on the expression of emotions in domestic fowl, a study on the importance and results of crossbreeding in poultry farming, and a monograph on the plumage colors of domestic fowl. These titles suggest that his writing combined observation with practical concerns, attending to behavior, hybridization, and external traits in domesticated birds in the service of contemporary poultry practice. They are primary sources for understanding early Italian poultry science.
