About the author

Emily Brontë (1818–1848) was an English novelist and poet, one of the "Brontë sisters." Born into a clergyman's family in Yorkshire, she published her only novel, Wuthering Heights, in 1847 under the pen name Ellis Bell. Known for its intense emotion and distinctive narrative structure, the novel became a classic of English literature and is often categorized as foreign literature and inspirational coming-of-age reading. She also wrote more than 190 poems. She died of tuberculosis in 1848 at the age of thirty. Her writing career was brief, yet Wuthering Heights has long drawn the attention of readers and scholars for its deep emotional power and complex narrative approach.
