Anne Brontë

Anne Brontë is the youngest of the three Brontë sisters in the history of English literature. Public information about her life and nationality is limited, yet her writing has consistently drawn attention in the categories of foreign literature and inspirational growth. Nine of her works are included in the collection, chiefly The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey, most of them in multi-volume English editions. Her novels often depict, with delicate strokes, the situation of governesses, the oppression of marriage, and women's self-reliance. Her style is restrained yet vivid, combining moral concern with realistic criticism. Her writing on women's inner lives and independent choices offers later readers an important perspective on nineteenth-century English women's experience.
